u2 boy (1980) - it's hard to imagine U2 ever sounded so incredibly fresh.
leonard cohen songs of love and hate (1971) - the perfect record for easing yourself into the autumn.
bat for lashes fur and gold (2006) - a fairytale of a record, literally.
the cooper temple clause kick up the fire and let the flames break loose (2003) - a criminally underrated band. loved them madly.

the horrors primary colours (2009) - delia derbyshire guesting on an echo & the bunnymen album. thank fuck for the horrors.
scott walker scott 3 (1969) - every book you might read, every film you see, every museum you will ever visit, all rolled into one.
patrick wolf wind in the wires (2005) - i could live in a house with a horse and a uke-le-eh-eh-eh-le.
suede head music (1999) - here's a secret: it's not as crap as everyone says it is. the musical equivalent of a concrete city on a hot day.

dillard & clark the fantastic expedition (1968) - one of my top three favourite albums ever. shame i don't know what the other two are yet.
duran duran duran duran (1981) - the most brilliant pop record ever made.
japan quiet life (1980) - it's like a pastel-coloured italian silk suit set to music.
dEUS pocket revolution (2005) - "you know the one where martin sheen waves his arm to the girl on the street".

hope of the states left (2006) - four years worth of therapy on one record.
gene clark no other (1974) - considered 'overly indulgent' at the time, an otherwordly record with a soul.
otis redding otis blue (1965) - prepare to get your heart bludgeoned.
serge gainsbourg histoire de melody nelson (1971) - renders all other concept albums unnecessary.
